Betws y Coed & District Tourism Association

Betws-y-Coed is called the premier inland tourist resort for North Wales with good reason.

The village is within 25 miles of the coast both to the North and to the West, and the road network means that Betws-y-Coed is THE best place for a base to explore the whole region.

Betws-y-Coed is literally circled by exciting things to do and interesting places to visit and you may need to extend your holiday!

To the North is Conwy, with the fairytale Conwy Castle, Aberconwy House and Plas Mawr to get a good dose of history, together with the Mussel Museum and Butterfly Jungle.

Next door is Llandudno with its Victorian Arcades and Pier, and its shops to explore.

Further round to the East is Rhuddlan Castle and Denbigh Castle to find out more about medieval Wales.

To the South is Bala where the National Whitewater Centre is based for an exhilerating journey down the river. Or go down the slate mines at Blaenau Ffestiniog to see the huge caverns and underground lakes.

Not much further from the slate mine is the world famous Portmeirion Village & Gardens. Or you could take a trip down memory lane and take the Steam Train from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog.

More to the West of Betws-y-Coed is the pretty village of Beddgelert - find out the myth about the dog saving the life of a prince!

Circling round to the North West, there is of course Caernarfon Castle - built by Edward I and where the current Prince of Wales had his investiture.

And we have hardly touched on all the mountains to climb and the mountain bike trails - the Marin Trail and Penmachno Trail, or take advantage of the Forest Roads where bikes are allowed.

What about a bit of geocaching? Horseriding? Fishing? Canoeing? Orienteering?
